Can I undelete a Domino 5 mail file that was accidentally deleted?

Is it possible to undelete a Domino 5 mail file that was accidentally deleted? Does Notes use traditional disk I/O processes to delete files (i.e., FAT changes), or does it do some sort of raw deletion that "Undelete"-type programs can't recognize?
Yes, you can undelete a NSF file using an OS undelete program, as long as the file has not been overwritten.
