Classifying Web design tools for HTML/HTML coding

I'm interested in the Web-designing field. But I'm new to it and get pretty confused with all the different software applications like Frontpage and ColdFusion and Dreamweaver for HTML/HTML coding. Which are the latest and more advanced tools?

Dreamweaver MX is very good. If you are a Lotus Notes developer looking at going into Domino Web development, buying something like Dreamweaver is probably not a good first step.

Get yourself a couple of HTML tutorials and one of those 700-page "Getting Started with Domino"-kind of books (e.g., Lotus Notes and Domino 6 Development Unleashed by Steven Kern and Debbie Lynd). When you have tried everything in a book like that that has anything to do with HTML, you should go buy something like Dreamweaver.
