Getting 'Archive database format is unvalid' error after upgrade to Notes 6

Archiving mails is particularly important to us. In our test environment I followed the following plan for upgrading the Notes R5 to Notes 6.
  1. Upgrade the Notes R5 client to Notes 6.
  2. Replace the design of the mail file from the Mail6.ntf template.
  3. Replace the design of the archive file from the Mail6.ntf template.
Now when I try to archive, it gives the following error message:
NOTES ERROR: Archive Database format is invalid.
NOTE:
  1. The ODS of the mail file and the archive are 43 format.
  2. I am able to access the archive file through the archive link from the mail file. But not able to archive.
  3. If we create a new archive file from the archive settings of the mail file, we are able to archive.
This makes me maintain my existing copy of the archive and create a new archive file to make the archiving work. Any ideas how to solve this problem? Many thanks!
If you are installing any point release above 6.0, (i.e., 6.0.1 or 2), you should be able to fix this problem by recreating and saving the archive settings for the mail database.
