Getting 'Cannot keep up with event occurrence rate' error

I constantly am getting this error on some of my servers: "Warning: Cannot record event -- cannot keep up with event occurrence rate!" How do I resolve this problem?
It sounds like you have a very busy mail server and a lot of mail logging going on. You should turn the amount of logging of mail events down in the server configuration document. I would suggest setting it to minimal or informational logging.
