How can a user send mail to a group of which he is a member and not receive the mail himself?

I have a laptop user with a local copy of the Domino directory. Every time he creates an e-mail and sends it to a group, when he is connected to the network and when he is also a member of that group, the user gets a e-mail in his mailbox from himself. Is there way to stop this? Please advise.
It's most likely due to the group expansion issues associated with local groups. I, for one, never like people to have local replicas of directories. It causes a lot of calendaring problems, and if it isn't replicated, it will become out-of-date. I'd suggest removing the local replica for optimal performance.
