We run a Domino 4.6x server. Security on the SMTP features is locked down tightly so as to avoid spam relaying. Unfortunately, this also prevents our employees from using third-party mail clients to access the server for SMTP purposes. They can pull mail, but not send. We'd like to adjust the SMTP settings to allow specific users only to route SMTP mail through the Notes server. What would we change to do this?
You want to disallow all SMTP relaying, except for certain users. I don't think that R4.6 can do this, but here are details about all the spam control INI variables in R4.6. Be sure to read all the way to the bottom.

In general, I encourage you to upgrade to R5. It provides much better relay control than R4. You can do what you want directly in the SMTP setup page in the address book. No INI variables required.
