Q

Installing Notes Domino R5.0.7 on a NT server

Our old NT server is running Notes Domino R4.6.1d. We have a new NT server on which we want to install Notes Domino R5.0.7. What is the best way to upgrade and move Domino R4.6.1d to the new server? Should we move the existing app and then upgrade it? Or, should we put a clean installation (R5) on the new server and them move the databases?
You should do a clean installation of Domino 5.0.7a on your new server, and then move the data from your old server. Before turning Domino on, you should Compact -B the databases. Then run Fixup on them and then run Updall -R. This will bring all of your databases in R5 ODS, which is fine. R4.x client can access R5 ODS (ODS 41) databases as long as they are on a R5 server.
