Suddenly, our server shows a lot of lines (40-50 ... it depends) like these:
- "SMTP Server Providing service for 172.26.18.20"
- when we do "sh task."
- nsmtp.exe uses 99% CPU.
What is the problem? Why is it happening and how can we fix it?
Is your server being used as a mail relay? The spammers are very good at finding open relay servers, then taking them over quickly. Check your settings at Names.nsf / Configuration / Servers / Configurations / Server name / Router / Restrictions / Inbound. The first section of this page should have some options filled in to prevent relaying.

I have one principal Lotus Domino 5.0.5 server and 4 secondary servers. I have had this problem with the mail relay. I tried the restrictions in the names.nsf, but the problem is still there. How do you get the secondary servers to keep the connection and block the spammers? Can you give me an example?
The first thing you should do is upgrade to R6 server (or R7). They contain much better spam control than R5. After doing so, the look at the settings I described in my original answer.
