I am new at Domino development and I want to create a database to record all IT error logs. So we need an error log form and error print form. I think I need Error Log Form fields (auto number, application, raised by, time, date, fixed by, error title, error description, status).Can you give me some guidance?
The real question is, "What are the requirements for this logging tool?" You could use @Unique or similar code to produce the Auto number, but I find that using @ created combined with some additional key fields works fine. I created a similar application as a mail in database and configured LotusScript error handling routines to mail a document to the application.
The fields included on the document are:
Application: the Notes database application throwing the error.
Subroutine:
Error Line:
Error Message:
Error Number:
The message body also contains information similar to what follows. Items in brackets are either links or specific information pulled from the database.
An unexpected error was encountered processing:
Database Title = [Database Title] ---> [Database Link] Server Name = [Servername] Filename = [database path & filename] Subroutine = [the name of the form or agent executing
and the specific subroutine of the code executed e.g. New Action Plan Form – QueryClose] Error [Error Number]: [ Error Message] at line number [Error Line] e.g. Error 91 : Object variable not set at line number 49
