We have this combination: Nt 4Srv+SP6a, Lotus Domino Server 4.5.7 and ARCserve 6.5. First, we use ARCserve's pre/post command to shut down Lotus Domino-server with command "d:notesnserver -quit". After this, ARCserve copies all Notes datbases to another disk and there ARCserve takes backup. After copying Notes databases ARCserve tries to start Lotus Domino-server with post-command "d:notesnserver.exe". Sometime this works and sometime not.
When this doesn't work the problem is that when Domino is shutting down, it stays on loop "Waiting for processes to exit" and when Domino tries to start Notes, it stops right in the beginning, and only the version text displays on command prompt. Do you have any solutions?
It is a common problem when you try and shutdown the Notes server to take backups. The only real solution is to move to R5 and get backup software that can backup open Domino files via the Notes C API.
