Q

Problems coding in a form

I am a new R5 Developer. I've some problems about coding in a form. I 'm creating a form that has 4 Buttons ( Field name B1 , B2 , B3, B4 ) and 4 RichText Fields ( Field Name RT1 , RT2 , RT3, RT 4  for keeping an attachment file ) . Here's the formula for when users click on each button, example for field B1 and RT1:

@Command([EditDocument];"1");
@Command([EditGotoField];"RT1");
@Command([EditInsertFileAttachment])

I need to show only B1 and RT1 ( hide any button & any RichTextField ) when user click B1 for attaching a file in RT1. I need to display B2 and RT2 ( hide B3 , RT3, B4 , RT4 ), and when user clicks a B2 for attach a file in RT2. I need to display B3 and RT3 ( hide B4 , RT4 ) and when user clicks a B3 for attach a file in RT3, I need to display B4 and RT4 for attach a file in RT4. Please recommend the way to do this. Thanks very much.

I would recommend using JavaScript to control the show property of the items you are trying to show and drive that from the contents of the other fields that are your criteria. You can use Hide Formulas and Refresh events, but they will cause the whole form to reload. I would go ahead and use whatever JS event (OnFocus, OnBlur, etc) that works for you and just check the current field contents then adjust the show property of the other fields accordingly. If you need help with how to write JavaScript there are a lot of good guides on the Internet that can help you there. www.javascripts.com is a good one.
