Q

RRV bucket corrupt

The user got the following error message: HTTP Web Server: Lotus Notes Exception - RRV bucket is corrupt. This mail file cannot be opened in both Notes or Web. I tried to run the 'fixup' utility but it does not work. I am unable to perform any database administration tasks (replica, refresh design, replace design etc...) We are running domino server 5.05

Thanks ahead
First some background. RRV stands for Record Relocation Vector. It is a pointer that tells Notes where to find a specific NoteID. When this corrupts, you don't have many options that I know. You can try all of the usual fixes, but they don't usually work, as you have found out. Sometimes you can get lucky with a design refresh or replace. It looks like you didn't. The only other task I could suggest would be a compact. Other than that, maybe try the mail file convert task. You can try that with the server both running, or with it down and from a DOS prompt. Otherwise, you will have to go to a backup tape.
