Setting up the server to accept SMTP mail from the parent domain

We have exchange server xyz.com and a Domino server abc.xyz.com. The Domino server is in the subdomain of xyz.com. When mail is forwarded to Notes in the subdomain it is rejected. How do we setup the Domino server to accept SMTP mail from the parent domain?
In your Global Domain document, add the domain to the Domino domains and aliases field in the Restrictions tab
