To full-text index or not to full-text index?

To full-text index or not to full-text index?

The database is already 4 GB in size. Users regularly search for documents (but not using advanced search features). What would be a better option -- to remove the FTI or to change the frequency to update the FTI to daily/scheduled?

I am concerned that the constant updating of the FTI is eating up server resources. Thanks in advanced for any inputs.
I am sure the FTI is eating server resources. The big question is whether or not it is taking up too many resources, or are the searches too slow? If your server is being slowed by the searches and indexing, you might want to remove the index. If you really need the index, perhaps you can bump up the CPUs, or you could try splitting the database into a few databases. Perhaps one could be current data, the other an archive-type database.
