This sounds like a client issue. Unfortunately, if you have had consultants and Lotus look at it, I won't be able to help you on the amount of information you have written here. Is it a problem for all clients, or just some? If someone loses connectivity, does everyone? When connectivity is lost, is the server still pingable by name? What is the hardware and OS configuration of the clients? How are they accessing the server, via RAS, VPN, broadband, etc.? All of these questions could point to your culprit. Without more information, I cannot offer you any further advice.
