QUESTION POSED ON: 05 December 2003
My domain name and server name are the same and my fully qualified Internet host name is different. Can I change it to be the same as the server name?

The fully qualified Internet host name is not required, but it should be something that is either significant to your organization (if it is purely internal) or it should be a valid Internet host name (if outside firewalls). If your server is called MAIL1 and your host name is SERVM01, there is no harm in changing your Internet host name to SERVM01.abc.org, as long as you have a DNS entry that points to it for resolution.
