Unlike Notes, J2EE doesn't offer a framework for building workflow applications. There are J2EE workflow frameworks available from third parties, and the minimum software requirements depend on the third-party solution. From an IBM offering perspective, Lotus Workplace will definitely become the J2EE equivalent of Notes, and I believe you will start seeing a lot more workflow features in new Workplace releases in 2005.
