QUESTION POSED ON: 14 July 2004
We have the update for an existing Domino application, with a new front end that is based on WebSphere Portal Server with a DB2 application database. Working in conjunction, we will no longer be able to use Notes Groups for authorization -- we will need to use Blue Groups.

There is a requirement for me to modify user registration process to update both Notes (currently implemented in Notes/Domino) and Blue Groups (adding and removing users). The message needs to be sent to the front end (DB2) when a user is added or deleted in a user profile. Can you advise me on how to integrate Blue Group with the Notes/Domino application?

Modifying the out-of-the-box user registration process would require modifications to the WebSphere Portal product itself. While it might be technically possible, I am not aware of any documentation that describes this process. In theory, it should be possible to redirect the registration link to custom code that registers the users in both Domino and Blue Group, but this is likely to result in an unsupported environment.
