QUESTION POSED ON: 13 August 2004
We have to transfer Domino documents to the SAP records management. One approach could be to replicate the main records to Domino via LEI and the SAP connector to have a selection view popup to assign the document to the appropriate record. How do you deal with the user rights on this? Does the current user (in Notes client) have the right to put a document under the selected record? How do you handle user rights here?

Alternatively, could we create a new record in SAP via the backend and then call the SAPGUI to handle the assignment? What do you call the SAPGUI with the proper parameters? Thanks!

EXPERT RESPONSE
I have to start this response by saying that nothing you may want to do with SAP is easy....

To answer your first question on user rights, the SAP Connection document in LEI will need an SAP user ID and password that has rights to perform these updates. That typically means you would use a higher level user ID and password for LEI and implement the appropriate controls in your Domino application to limit the data your Notes users can create, update and or delete. Lotus' SAP Workflow integration templates provide great examples of how you can incorporate use of the SAP GUI within your Domino applications. You can find them on the left navigator under Lotus, Downloads, Enterprise Integration, Free Trials; you will see various links to the platform-specific versions of the SAP Connector with MTA and Workflow.
