QUESTION POSED ON: 10 September 2004
I am trying to create a database where three or more types of users would enter/edit the same form at the same time without corrupting the data.

I tried creating four forms. One for each type of user and the one form that does a DBLookup of all entries from the different forms and an agent does the updates. The problem with this is the change does not register right away. Is there any other way of creating a database that will support concurrent entries with automatic updates?

Well, you can probably come up with a design* to make this work in Notes, but this type of application really calls for a transaction processing system. The WebSphere family has a TP monitor and the other competing vendors also include this type of functionality.

*You might try playing with a Domino application that uses DECS and a relation database in the backend. In this scenario, your Form that pulls all the data together uses the common key to join the other rows into a single document.
