QUESTION POSED ON: 07 April 2005

We are testing Sametime 6.5. One problem we have encountered has to do with the Instant Contact list.

I added a person to my list. Now I want to remove the person from the list but when I click on remove nothing happens. I can remove groups added from the Domino Directory but not individual entries. What am I missing?

Removing people from the Instant Contacts list can be performed on either individuals added to personal groups or on public groups.

If you have added an individual to a personal group, you will be able to remove him from your Instant Contacts list by right-clicking and choosing "remove", or by selecting the individual and pressing [Delete] on your computer keyboard.

If you are dealing with a Public Group, you can again remove that entire group by right-clicking the group heading and choosing "remove", or by selecting the group heading and pressing [Delete].

You cannot, however, remove one individual from within a Public Group in your contact list. Check that the person you are trying to remove is not a member of your contact list by virtue of their membership in a Public Group.

MEMBER FEEDBACK TO THIS ASK THE EXPERT Q&A:

I have a user who has added people to their Instant Contact list. However, they left the "Add to private group" field blank. Now they have an unnamed group containing several contacts. They have found they are unable to remove contacts from this unnamed group from the list! They are able to select "Remove" and say "Yes" to the "are you sure..." prompt, but names are never removed.
