QUESTION POSED ON: 05 August 2005
I am planning to migrate my Linux sendmail UUCP dial-up to Domino server (6.5.3) and use the Internet broadband connection instead. I could send mails to the Internet over SMTP via my ISP. Our platform is Windows 2003. My question is how can I configure Domino to collect mail sent from the Internet from my ISP single mailbox and then distribute them to my LAN Notes clients.

Your server is not a POP client, nor is it designed to be one. If you want to distribute your mail, you need to get a static IP (or use some of those sites that allow you to run dynamic IP but be resolvable) and point your MX record to your Domino server.

MEMBER FEEDBACK TO THIS ASK THE EXPERT Q&A:

A possible solution for this task is Pullmail. Pullmail is a command line utility for Windows to collect e-mail from a POP accounts and forward it to a SMTP mail system. It runs also under Win XP and Server 2003.

Another product which can do this is Pytheas Mailgate. It is specifically designed to work in conjunction with Lotus Domino servers and Exchange servers.
