QUESTION POSED ON: 08 September 2005
We are going to attempt to standardize our Group names in NAB. But we are not sure on the approach we should take. We have came up with a standard naming convention, but are not sure on how to implement the change. There are about 700 group names that we would like to change, but doing this manually could take some time. Would you have any suggestions on how to make the change to all the groups? We are running Notes 6.5.4.

If you are reorganizing groups, this will be a bit of work. It is inevitably a somewhat manual process. I suggest taking it in stages, over a period of time. It takes a while (after a group change) to make sure everything is working correctly. You should build that time into the process.

To simply rename an existing group, you can use the AdminP tool for doing this. See Domino Admin Help / Index / Groups / Renaming / Rename.
