QUESTION POSED ON: 16 August 2005
We are running Version 6.5.1 and have started "renaming" a number of users to move them to a new certificate because their business unit changed its name. The process runs smoothly for users that work directly on a server. For users that only replicate with the server, the process often stops after the second step (Initiate rename in Domino Directory).

Sometimes the process resumes after more than a week. Sometimes the rename never completes. I have searched the IBM support web site and contacted their helpdesk. No luck so far. Can you help?

EXPERT RESPONSE

Here is a possibility -- the AdminP operation is timing out or being disrupted because some users are connecting too infrequently. I suggest you try it again for one of the problem users, and ask that person to connect to their home server each day. If that helps, do the same for the other failed users.

MEMBER FEEDBACK TO THIS ASK THE EXPERT Q&A:

If the user does not accept the rename -- i.e. says No instead of Yes -- the process will also stop. Notes only gives you one chance to accept a rename.
