QUESTION POSED ON: 23 August 2005
We are running Domino 6.01 on a Win2000 server (sp4). Every so often, the Domino service suddenly stops and the Domino console (black window) disappears from our desktop on the server. Other times, the Domino console stops scrolling and the users are not able to access Notes (request timed out) until I go to the server and hit enter on the Domino console. Then a whole bunch of e-mails starts transferring. Any idea as to what the problem is?

>

Wow! I have never heard of this. (Not that Domino is perfect.) Are you running any other applications on the Domino server box? It should run on its own on a dedicated machine. Also, are any of the disk drives (or folders) on the Domino server shared by any other user or server? This can corrupt that Domino database files. Only the Domino server software should be accessing the databases on that machine.

MEMBER FEEDBACK TO THIS ASK THE EXPERT Q&A:

I think that's related to quick edit window option. We use to have that happen in R5, until we ticked that option.
