QUESTION POSED ON: 05 February 2007
We currently have nine servers in one NNN (Notes Named Networks). This includes all of our corporate users, as well as our 3,000 stores. Obviously, this creates a large Notes Address Book.

I'm interested in separating our Lotus Notes network into two NNNs: CORP and STORES. I'm finding very little information about how to go about doing this, particularly with creating multiple Notes Address Books.

I get the necessary replication/connection documents I'll need to set this up, but is this a wise decision? Is it worth the effort? Would I just set up the new store address book in directory services? Any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated.

NNNs (DNNs -- Domino Named Networks now) are not the concern here. It is the domains. Unless it is truly a hardship -- and in all honesty, it shouldn't be a problem under 5,000 users -- you should not go away from a single domain. Everything works better, such as mail routing, ACLs, replication, etc.

If you really want to split it up, there are tech notes available on it, or you can use tools to help the cause. However, I strongly recommend staying put. Most companies strive to get to a single directory, not get away from it.
