QUESTION POSED ON: 29 March 2007
Do you know of an update to the IBM Redbook "Lotus Sametime 2.0 Deployment Guide?" There's a great section in there about deploying Lotus Sametime on the Internet. Is it still relevant for Lotus Sametime 6.5.1? Do you know of any other good resources that will help me with deploying Lotus Sametime on the Internet?

EXPERT RESPONSE
This IBM Redbook has not been revised for newer versions of Lotus Sametime (Lotus Instant Messaging). Besides the Administrator guides, there are a number of other good IBM Redbooks that deal with developing and integrating your Lotus Sametime environment. But at this stage, it really is a matter of reading through the available, updated documentation to filter out the information that you are specifically looking for.

The later versions of Lotus Sametime (6, 6.5, 7) are much easier to configure and deploy on the Internet. There is also some good information on extending your Lotus Sametime environment contained in the LIM gateway (also refer to the earlier SIP gateway) document, which can be found on the Redbooks Web site.

Of course, the final option is to go to the Lotus education Web site and check for a Lotus/Sametime administrators' class running in your area.
