I guess it depends on your setup. In emergencies like this, I usually try to take a handful of my largest offending files and move them elsewhere. The reason you don't want to do this with too many is that you will have to touch those clients. So, if you take your top five mail abusers and move them elsewhere, you will have to change their person records and icons to point to the new directory. Getting the files to the new directory is easy. Say you create a new directory called Mail1. You create that on your temporary storage facility, and in Domino you create a directory link to that new space outside of your normal data directory structure.
Creating directory links is easily done from the admin client, and is covered in the admin help DB as well. The link can be to any other drive or directory you want, as long as it is connected to the server in some fashion. Once you get through your space crunch, you can move those people back to the primary mail directory and change their settings back to normal.
