QUESTION POSED ON: 06 April 2001 I would like to change out hardware that is currently on our Notes SMTP server. I am being told that it's a rather simple process. They say I should just build another and install Notes Server - give it the same name and IP. Copy over the NAB, server.id and Notes.INI from the old one and it will work. Is it this simple or should I just copy my configuration I am using now and build an entirely new SMTP server?

If you have the spare hardware available, this is the best method of switching. However, the order is a little backwards. Name it something else first and give it a different IP address. Then copy everything over to it from the old box. Shut down the old box then rename the new server and give it the other server's IP address. Reboot and you are running as if nothing happened.
