QUESTION POSED ON: 25 March 2002
We have written LotusScript to retrieve data from another system. Both LEI and ODBC connection have been tested. The result is very unsatisfactory. It took us 90 seconds for LEI or 180 seconds for ODBC to retrieve 1 record from a 100,000-record file. We have also tried the same SQL command using MS Access to connect to that ODBC connection. It took us only 1 second. Are there any specific areas for Notes configuration or LotusScript usage for us to review? Kindly advise.

Your situation sounds odd to me. There isn?t really any place for configuring something that influences the performance of your LotusScript. I think that there is some bottleneck here that has nothing to do with Domino or Lotus Notes. Did your MS Access example run from the same server as did your LEI or ODBC connection? I think not. Try installing MS Access on the same server, and do the test from there. I certainly hope that you will find that Access has the same, bad, response times then. To me, it sounds like you have a LAN problem or maybe your Domino server is unable to handle its current workload. Memory, disks, CPU ? something could be too old, too slow, too little or just plain broken.
