QUESTION POSED ON: 21 May 2003
For one of our new Lotus Domino applications we need to store data in an Oracle (8i) database. It is a very data-intensive application. Can you suggest the best suitable connection mechanism in these circumstances?

>
If the data is very intensive, such as high volumes and turnover of data, I suggest looking into Lotus Enterprise Integrator. This is an excellent add-on product running on top of a Domino server, and allows you to transfer and/or replicate data between Domino and in this case Oracle. It allows you to replicate data bidirectionally, use timestamp, call Oracle stored procedures, etc. and since it uses native connectors and speaks the native Oracle SQL language, you can create your own queries and data transfers are done in an extremely fast mode.

If you are speaking about high volumes, the best advice I can give you is to purchase a dedicated Domino server for LEI, as the background processes can be processor-intensive.
