QUESTION POSED ON: 17 July 2003
Can I display a list of documents based on dynamic conditions (i.e., get a list of documents that belong to authors x, y and z; have topics a, b and c; and be between certain dates)? Can I also display them according to pre-configured settings (e.g., order them based on authors or date or other conditions)? How can I achieve this using a Notes view?

>
Your question is very widely reached. Is this in Notes, or in the Web? First of all, dynamic dates and user names in a view selection formula are not recommended. Using user names will not always work properly, specifically if you refer to the current user name. Using date calculations in the selection formula will cause the view not to refresh properly and always leaves the refresh icon (left top of the view) present.

Perhaps you can do something with a single category view? If you construct the first column as a combination of your conditions and make it categorized, you could filter that, using an embedded view with a single category enabled. The single category can be a value, a formula or something based on the content of a field part of the form where the view is embedded.
