R5 certification exams will be discontinued November 30, 2004, so you are right to be somewhat concerned. Generally, we have been recommending that customer get certified on R5 and then take the single update exam to earn their ND6/6.5 certification, so they can have two certifications.
If you feel you can pass all three exams by November 30, I still think this is the wisest course. Although companies are certainly moving to ND6 and 6.5, there will likely be some that will take some time to move there. But only you can make that call. There is certainly nothing wrong with going direct to ND6/6.5.
