Domino can use LDAP natively as a directory, so it isn't really necessary to transfer data. Consult your Administrator documentation.
To answer your actual question: you can customize the Domino Directory. It's just a Notes database. You can also store extra fields in documents without modifying the forms – just assign them values in your program. If you do modify the design, take care! You may break Domino server functions that depend on this design. Also, when you upgrade you will need to reapply your changes.
