To create the virtual machine, you can use the built-in wizard within VMware Server to walk through the setup.

I specified that my operating system would be SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, assigned 512 MB of RAM to the machine, and created a virtual 20 GB hard drive -- with that space pre-allocated for better performance. I left all the other virtual machine options in their default state, including network address handling.

After your virtual machine is created, verify that it includes access to the host machine's CD drive, since you will likely need that to install Linux and Domino. This setting is found within the pull-down menu VM -> Settings -> Hardware.

My project was primarily for test purposes. But for an actual enterprise-grade installation, you should create a beefier virtual machine with more RAM and a larger virtual disk. You might also want to use a more sophisticated virtualization product, such as VMware ESX Server.
