No summertime news blues this year

It's no secret that in the news business, once the weather gets hot, the news typically gets cold. With vacation season in full swing and many vendors such as IBM Lotus between release cycles, July and August don't usually produce the voluminous product and industry news you often see in the spring and fall.

This year, someone forgot to tell this to the folks at Lotus, because news has been flying out of Cambridge at an Olympic pace. In the past few weeks, Lotus has released ND7 Beta 2, responded to the recent Radicati report, reaffirmed its enterprise IM strategy (following word that Microsoft's Live Communication Server 2005 will offer unprecedented interoperability features with public IM clients), announced an end date for R5 support, and demonstrated its next-generation of collaboration tools.
