How to create your own Lotusphere

The world does not have to come to an end for those are not heading to Lotusphere this year.

Lotus and other companies are making it possible to design your own personal Lotusphere through a host of Web sites, series, broadcasts and other resources. They cost a lot less than a week in Orlando and do not require spending a week away from the office.

Lotus provides three free on-line venues for getting information. Lotus's ITCentral web site offers access to webcasts, articles, forums and other items of particular interest to administrators. Developer topics are covered at its Developer Network web site.

It includes 26 technical briefings as well as links to many of the other Lotus technical reference sites including Notes. Net. The Notes. net. site includes the Iris Development related forums and articles.

Another portal is Executive Central. It is aimed at management and those who need information to make strategic decisions. Among the listings are press releases, industry and analytical articles, short pieces on how companies are using Notes and Domino, and articles that explain Lotus and IBM views on some issues.

If you prefer the live presentation format, check out Lotus Masters Series. These monthly satellite broadcasts are currently simulcast to 40+ locations in major cities throughout the US and Canada. Presentations are given for all three of the interests above.

Technical seminars sponsored by third parties may be found at Advisor Publications' web site. The company usually hosts an annual development conference. The View offers a number of seminars annually, including their administration conference.

Finally, VALU.org is an association that acts as an umbrella for Notes and Domino user groups throughout the world. Because they are endorsed by Lotus and have connections with Lotus and other vendors, they are able to help local user groups set up their own seminars and summits. Panda, the Philadelphia area group, hosted a full day technology session in conjunction with VALU. VALU.org lists local user groups, discussion forums and events.

Those who cannot make your Lotusphere connection this year can compile their own personal event using these links as a starting point:
