Actioneer launches new software
Actioneer Inc., Cambridge, Mass., has made available its Actioneer Pro 4.0 for Lotus Notes, software that enables Notes users to fetch information from or deposit information into Lotus Notes databases. The new database access feature answers an increasing need by users such as customer service and sales personnel to gain easy access to information residing in Notes databases. The company said Actioneer eliminates much of the time-consuming point and click navigation usually needed to access Lotus Notes or the Web. Keywords contained in action messages entered into Actioneer's capture window trigger software connectors that launch intelligent agents which drill down into Notes or within Web sites to complete desired actions for the user. It costs $60.

Learning Worlds Inc., New York, has developed a software applet to help people send e-mail attachments. Called theAttacher, the applet installs itself in Microsoft Outlook 2000 and works by scanning e-mail text for key words that indicate the sender intends to an include an attachment. If no attachment is present, it opens a dialogue window, prompting the sender to include the attachment or ignore the message. The product can be customized and configured for each individual user. New versions for the Netscape Messenger and Eudora e-mail programs will be available in May.

GROUP Technologies of Karlsruhe,Germany, the parent company of GROUP Software, USA, and Trend Micro of Unterschlei?im, Germany, have joined up to make Trend Micro's anti-virus technology fully integrated into GROUP Technologies securiQ Suite product line. GROUP Technologies and GROUP Software are providers of the securiQ Suite family of content security software for the Lotus Notes/Domino and Microsoft Exchange messaging platforms. The companies said securiQ Suite customers will benefit from an extended range of anti- virus technologies offered by the Trend Micro Scan Engine, a scan technology package. The collaboration will also provide a native virus scanner for both the AS/400 and S/390 versions of Lotus Notes/Domino, the companies said.
