Lotus wins award

Lotus Development Corp., Cambridge, Mass., was awarded a Basey for Knowledge Management award for its Discovery Server by Basex, a high tech research an analysis firm in New York. Other winners included Google for its Google Search Engine, QUIQ for its QUIQ Connect, and TheBrain for its IntranetBrain. The companies were cited for breaking new ground in knowledge management.

Trend Micro updates anti-virus software

Trend Micro Inc., a network anti-virus and Internet content security solutions company in Baltimore, Md., has created a new version of its free anti-virus software for the Palm operating system. PC-cillin for Wireless Version 2.0 for Palm OS now provides automatic launch scanning to prevent viruses that enter the device from every possible entry point such as beaming, synching, e-mail and Internet downloading.

Former Lotus exec joins Commerce One

Neil Hudspith, former vice president and general manager of Lotus Development's Asia pacific division, has joined Commerce One Inc. as its general manager in the Asia Pacific and profitability. During his 11 years at Lotus, Hudspith was also the vice president of the Europe/ Middle East/ Africa north region. Commerce One is an electronic marketplace company in Pleasanton, Calif.
