Bowstreet offers dashboards compatible with WebSphere Portal Bowstreet Inc., a provider of portal-based tools, has released a line of business intelligence dashboards, called Sales and Executive Dashboard Solutions, which are compatible with IBM WebSphere Portal (as well as JSR168). The portal-based dashboard allows companies to build composite dashboards that link key performance indicators to both operational and historical data sources. According to product manager Jeff Newman, one of the product's key features is a collaborative capability that leverages Lotus Instant Messaging. Team members can instantly communicate with each other via the portal, thus decreasing the time required to make decisions. Search engine brings Web-crawling to Domino domain Release 1.1 of C-Search Ltd.'s search engine brings Web-crawling techniques to the Domino domain. As a distributed index, the C-Search engine brings awareness of information to users at all locations, regardless of where the source materials actually reside. Already capable of searching multiple databases across servers, the update adds pass-through support, mobile support that lets users search the index off-line using the Notes client or a Web browser, and improved setup facility via a wizard that allows the engine to automatically detect regional information held in the Domino directory. Organizations can configure their own indexing options. The product comes in two versions. C-Search 1.1 searches across the whole Notes domain, while C-Search Domino.Doc 1.1 is limited to Domino.Doc and Document Managers. Both products run on Domino 5.1 or later and on any platform. Doc management tool prevents replication, save conflicts A document management tool from Teamstudio Inc., a maker of Lotus Notes/Domino software tools, allows administrators to quickly resolve replication or save conflicts with database documents. The Teamstudio Resolver tool permits the viewing of a main document and all conflicting documents on a field-by-field basis. A pop-up window then asks which document to keep, or whether the administrator wants to include fields from a different version in the newest version of the document. The tool is priced at $495 per user. Enhanced mail content filter reveals spammer data Computer Mail Services Inc. has updated its Praetor e-mail content filter service. Improvements in Version 2.1 include the use of a memory cache for the Bayesian token database, which filters messages faster than a SQL server, and DNS blackhole list filtering at the message level, which allows administrators to learn more about spammers than just their IP address. Praetor supports the Domino mail server and is available starting at $350 for 10 users. Tool notifies admins of server changes A server configuration monitoring tool from Ionet Ltd. enhances the security of the Domino environment by alerting admins to changes made by anyone to the configuration and security settings of Domino servers. The Change Manager product tracks changes to server documents, Admin Groups, Directory ACLSs, Domain documents and Notes.INIs. Along with receiving notification of changes and who is making them, administrators can compare server configurations. Changer Manager 1.1 starts at $795 to monitor up to 30 servers. Change Manager differs from R7 Domino Domain Monitoring, which reports on the availability and performance of server tasks, by reporting on changes to server configurations. All configuration and security settings in the Notes.INI file and directory can be retrieved for automatic change reporting and comparison, including ACL and Administration Groups. Monitoring tools available through DYS DYS Analytics Inc. has rolled out a series of services, called Control! OnDemand, which provide IT staff with immediate answers to security and license compliance questions and extensive reports on application use profiling, e-mail health and consolidation assessments. The services leverage the company's application performance management software to aggregate data, compare it to the user directory and generate reports. This allows administrators to resolve short-term problems, such as unexplained e-mail spikes, without subtracting from the time required to refine longer-term projects such as server consolidation and license reassignment. This initial set of Control! OnDemand services are available today for IBM Lotus Domino and related IBM collaboration applications. Control! OnDemand costs $400 per server.
