Good Technology's wireless software coming to Domino |

Another wireless mobilization option will be soon available for Notes/Domino shops. Good Technology Inc. announced this week that GoodLink, its wireless messaging and PIM software, will be available for Notes/Domino in the first half of 2006.
The Santa Clara, California-based company thus adds itself to a Domino-based wireless messaging market led by iAnywhere and BlackBerry maker Research in Motion. The company currently offers GoodLink Suite for Exchange, with separate editions for large and small businesses.
"Good is better aligning itself with those who don't rely on Exchange. They're expanding the platforms that they're on," said Kevin Burden, program manager, mobile devices, IDC.
One advantage GoodLink offers is compatibility with a variety of handhelds, such as Palm OS, Windows Mobile and Symbian. This compatibility, in turn, allows an enterprise to deploy Goodlink while using its existing infrastructure, Burden said.
"[Good Technology's] message has always been around the freedom and the flexibility of the platform and the device. As long as you were in the Exchange world, that was fine," Burden said. Now that flexibility will extend to Domino enterprises, he added.
GoodLink Lotus Domino Edition is back-end push e-mail software that will sit on its own server behind a firewall and is linked to the Domino server. When an e-mail is sent to a user's Domino account, the GoodLink server sends it through a single port to the Network Operations Center, which then forwards it to the mobile device.
GoodLink's support for Notes/Domino was one of several announcements the company made this week. In addition, Good said it would add Motorola and Audiovox wireless devices to its lineup of supported devices, and the company signed an agreement with Sprint allowing it to sell the GoodLink service. Good struck a similar deal with Cingular Wireless last month.
