This month's roundup of Domino-related product releases includes a database audit log, an updated content integrator, BlackBerry support for the Notes workflow and more.

Audit logging available for Domino databases

Management tools firm Dysant Software's recent release, AuditLog, provides monitoring and database-level debugging of all applications built on Lotus Domino, allows admins to design custom alerts about potentially fraudulent behavior and identifies which users are accessing data they shouldn't be seeing. The result, the company says, is faster diagnosis of problems, improved credibility and less "automatic blame" when something bad happens.

Percussion updates Domino content integrator

Percussion Software Inc. released Lyrix 2.5, its Notes/Domino rich-content integration product. With the update, users can transfer Domino content to standard document types such as Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF and XML without custom coding. The software will also preserve extracted metadata and attachments.

Lyrix 2.5 is compatible with enterprise applications such as document and contract management, portals and collaboration platforms. Single sign-on can be implemented among these apps.

Ionet releases Notes workflow support, free Change Manager

Ionet Ltd. has updated two of its Notes/Domino software offerings. With Workflow Manager 2.2, support is now available for Notes workflows on the BlackBerry and other mobile devices. This plug-in, which will be compatible with Domino 7, supports serial, multiple approver and parallel workflows. Workflow Manager 2.2 also features central administrative control of delegation and approval, and workflows can be customized without the use of design elements. A demo download is available.

In addition, Ionet is now offering Change Manager 1.1 free at its Web site. This product monitors changes to any aspect of Domino server configurations, such as Notes.ini, configuration documents and Web servers, and provides reports to the proper administrator.

DB2 for Domino 7 course available

One of Notes/Domino 7's biggest changes is the ability to store data in DB2. The Learning Continuum Co. now offers an online course to help both developers and administrators use DB2 with Domino 7. The course begins with the basics – installing DB2 and writing SQL queries – then covers setting up a Domino 7 server with DB2, using DB2 data in Domino views and allowing DB2 apps to access Domino data. The course is designed to work with Domino 7 beta 4, and an update will be provided following Domino 7's public release.

Along with the DB2 for Domino 7 course, TLCC has introduced a course, "Servlet and JSP Programming for WebSphere using Rational Developer 6," for developers ready to enter the realm of J2EE.

Plug-in support, mail monitor added to C-Search

Plug-in support for IBM Workplace Web Content Management (IWWCM) is one new feature of C-Search 1.3, the Domino domain search engine from C-Search Ltd. With the plug-in, IWWCM searches are extended from multiple databases to multiple servers, and search results are presented within a C-Search page, where users can sort, refine or save the results.

Other tools new to C-Search 1.3 include an integrated mail monitor for Domino domains, standard configurations for common Domino templates and support for Domino Document Manager 7.0. These have been added to standard features such as dynamic generation of document summaries and a built-in RSS news reader.

Three versions of C-Search are available – the full release, a version that searches only Domino.Doc and the Document Manager and a version that covers only mail databases. The company also offers a free version for organizations with fewer than 50 users; this version is locked down, so it can't be modified or re-branded.
