SearchDomino.com's most recent poll on LotusScript has come to an end, and the results are hardly surprising. Simply put, most of the readers who responded to the poll said they wished that IBM would do more with LotusScript.

The poll offered respondents six possibilities for expressing how they felt about LotusScript. Of the 141 people who responded, 47, or 33%, said they felt that IBM should view LotusScript as a key component of an application suite, while 37, or 26%, felt that IBM should do much more to keep LotusScript updated.

Fifteen respondents, or 11%, said they were moving to Java and bidding adieu to LotusScript. Adding up those three "camps," we get a total of 99 respondents, or 70%, who feel that IBM could do a better job with LotusScript.

The poll included three possibilities suggesting that IBM was doing a satisfactory job with LotusScript, and 30% of the respondents chose one of these three. The choice that IBM had done a good job of updating LotusScript in Release 6 of Notes/Domino was chosen by 11 respondents, or 8%, while 27 pollees, or 19%, felt that while IBM could do more to keep LotusScript updated, basically, the support it offered was fine.

Only 4 people, or 3%, chose the answer "LotusScript is fine for what it is: a scripting language."

First of all, the topic of LotusScript continues to be a very popular one on the Ask the Experts section of SearchDomino. We receive so many questions pertaining to the use of LotusScript that we have added an expert who will be dedicated to the subject. Secondly, SearchDomino.com's LotusScript Learning Guide continues to be one of our most popular features, and we plan on updating it this fall.
