Tool helps DB2 developers leapfrog SQL code creation hassles
A beta version of Quest Toad for DB2, which increases productivity for SQL development and database object management, is now available from Quest Software Inc. Toad for DB2 helps DB2 developers rapidly create and execute queries and develop SQL code more efficiently. The beta version includes a built-in DB2 knowledge base that reduces the amount of time needed to dig through manuals to comprehend DB2 administration, application development and tuning.Version 1.0 of Quest Toad for DB2 wll be available on Oct. 25. Pricing starts at $870.

Application helps admins spot e-mail traffic trends
IBM Business Partner RPR Wyatt recently released Essential Mail Manager, an application that delivers SQL- and Web-based reports on e-mail traffic activity and trends in organizations using Lotus Notes/Domino. Called Essential Mail Manager, the product provides Domino administrators and IT managers with the business intelligence needed for monitoring compliance, trend analysis and capacity planning. Annual license subscription cost per seat starts at $7.00 for 1-50 users and goes down to $3.25 for 3001-3500 users.

Shireburn adds reporting module for SecurTrac users
Shireburn Software Ltd. is now offering a reporting module for users of SecurTrac audit trail software for Domino. Called Integra for SecurTrac, the module enhances the value of data that SecurTrac gathers through improved reporting, detailed analysis and charting to Microsoft Excel. The module can be upgraded to Shireburn's Integra for Notes to allow similar reporting across all Notes databases without any modifications to the databases.

Rights management solution ensures that e-mail is kept confidential
Authentica Secure Mail 4.0, from IBM Business Partner Authentica Inc., provides Notes users with a rights management solution for secure e-mail, ensuring that e-mail is kept confidential and its content is accessed only by authorized users. The 4.0 package also offers transparent availability of offline permissions for mobile workers and enforcement of corporate-wide e-mail security policies.

Intellisync unveils unified messaging platform for mobile devices
E-mail, voice and text messages are presented in a single interface in Intellisync Unified Messaging, the latest mobile messaging software from Intellisync Corp. The service integrates presence awareness with e-mail, calendar and contact information, so users can see whether colleagues are available, and it allows users to cite a preferred way to be contacted. Intellisync Unified Messaging is compatible with IBM Lotus Sametime and other corporate and commercial IM and mail offerings. It will be available for enterprises and wireless carriers in November 2005.

Single sign-on without single configuration
With NCT Simple Signon, the third Lotus/Domino product from Northern Collaborative Technologies, Domino shops and their vendors and partners can implement single sign-on without sharing a central directory or authentication point. This tool, president Andrew Pollack said, can "provide access to content on many platforms without complex synchronization issues or loss of security." NCT Simple Signon also includes a toolkit for developers to create their own sign-on utilities.
