This month's roundup of Domino product news includes a project management app, an e-mail size limiter and an RSS bridge from Domino views to Java portlets.

Change manager tracks collaborative process
Collaborative Change Management, a project management application from Marin Research Inc., organizes a company's various projects into a series of dashboards, charts and reports. Through these views, users access processes such as issues tracking, document management, lifecycle management and archiving. Views are supplemented with the Activity Pipeline, which organizes a project's documents into a single collection represented in a visual pipeline; individual documents are color-coded based on urgency and status. Collaborative Change Management supports Notes 6 and 7, all major Web browsers and certain cell phones. Evaluation copies are available.

Size limiter halts oversized e-mails
With MK Email Size Limiter for Lotus Notes from MK Net.Work, administrators can prevent large e-mail files from ever getting on the network or the Domino server. If a user exceeds the admin-defined size limit, a dialog window reminds the user that the e-mail won't be sent until its size is reduced. Size limitations can vary among users or groups, and no limits require changes to the Notes template. An evaluation version of the product is available here.

Kyros links Domino and Java portlets, updates Web content manager
ViewsFeed for Java Portal, one of two recent releases from Kyros Systems Ltd., automates the portlet programming and information bridging processes involved in publishing Domino data in open formats. Once data in a Domino view has been organized, ViewsFeed turns that data into an RSS or Atom newsfeed file, sends it to a Java Portlet and creates a formatted article.

Kyros Systems has also updated TitanWEB, its Web content management tool. New features in version 3.2 include the ability to search multiple Domino databases and the option to publish information to newsfeeds in RSS or Atom formats.

Module brings added security for remote users
The Intelligent Application Gateway from Whale Communications provides application-specific security, which lets administrators restrict a remote worker's access to the necessary apps and not the entire network. The product uses an SSL VPN (secure socket layer virtual private network) to provide both application and endpoint security; this grants enough safety for remote users on unmanaged devices such as kiosks. Intelligent Application gateway comes in two editions: an Express Edition that covers a small number of users and an Enterprise Edition, which can support up to 5,000 users in multiple configurations.

TLCC course covers Domino development changes
The latest online course from The Learning Continuum Co., Notes Domino 7 Application Development Update, prepares developers for IBM's updated certification exam for Notes/Domino 7. The course covers changes in Notes and Domino Designer such as shared columns, right-click menu actions, new @functions and the ability to create Web services.
