This month's roundup of Notes/Domino product news includes two partnerships, a WebSphere Portal tool, a Notes-SharePoint link and updates to one company's entire Notes line.

Stampede, Spacenet bring together app acceleration, VSAT
Stampede Technologies Inc. has incorporated very small aperture terminal, or VSAT, technology from Spacenet Inc. into its latest software acceleration tool. By using a combination of hardware appliances and client software, Stampede's WebRider is designed to maximize a Web application's performance and bandwidth utilization. The introduction of VSAT, a satellite communications system, gives enterprises control over their own communication operation and provides a faster connection than certain types of land lines.

Percussion, Ephox blend rich text editing, content management
Rhythmyx 5.7, the updated enterprise content management tool from Percussion Software Inc., has incorporated rich-text editing technology from Ephox Inc.. EditLive! for Java 5.0 from Ephox adds expanded browser and language support to Rhythmyx, as well as an XHTML editor and the ability to copy and paste from Notes or Office documents and retain original formatting. Another addition to the updated Rhythmyx is a content analysis feature, which generates reports tracking content through a workflow.

IFS updates app suite for direct WebSphere Portal connection
The latest edition of IFS Applications from IFS Inc. is integrated with IBM WebSphere Portal using the Java Portlet API (JSR 168). This link allows enterprises to combine IFS Applications 7's predefined, role-based portals with the enterprise-wide collaboration capabilities of WebSphere Portal.

Other additional features in the IFS Applications update cater to companies specializing in after-sales service and include call-center functionality and resource allocation and planning software.

Proposion Portal Adaptor links Notes content to SharePoint
Portal Adaptor from Proposion Inc. lets end users transfer content from Lotus Notes into SharePoint environments by using data-mapping rules instead of hard coding. The program can read a variety of content types, from attachments and embedded images to rich text. Once a user requests a transfer, Portal Adaptor will detect which of its predefined data definitions might apply; definitions for Notes/Domino data searches include Document Library, Calendar, Address Book and Resource Reservation. Users can also customize and save their own definition sets.

Ytria adds Domino 7 support to admin, dev tools
The EZ Suite of Notes tools from Ytria Inc. has been updated for Notes/Domino 7, with several features that address Domino 7's new Web Services and Shared Columns. ScanEZ, Ytria's NSF viewer and editor, can now compare rich text and MIME and solve individual conflicts without searching an entire database, while DesignPropEz, which manages design property, now offers a batch mode capability that updates multiple databases in one process. Ytria has also updated ActionBarEZ and SignEZ, its signature management tool.
