F-Secure adds attachment filter to anti-virus software

F-Secure, a Helsinki, Finland-headquartered security software firm, has released F-Secure Anti-Virus for Internet Mail 6.0, which contains new features to protect e-mail from viruses, worms and Trojan horses. This version lets administrators define the types of e-mail attachments that can pass through firewalls and mail servers. For instance, the software allows companies to keep out attachment types like .exe and .vbs.

Administrators running the software could also filter out non-work-related e-mails that include, for example, pictures and multimedia files. F-Secure Anti-Virus for Internet Mail 6.0 is priced at $22.50 per 100 users, with volume discounts at various levels.
