To become an IBM Lotus Certified Professional, administrators must pass three separate exams, which test their knowledge of operating fundamentals, infrastructure and managing servers and users. Since life as a system administrator is hard enough, many exam guides and tutorials are available to explain the examination process and provide insight.

This chapter comes from Exam Cram 2: Lotus Notes and Domino 6 System Administrator by Karen Fishwick and Tony Aveyard. It focuses on the third and final exam in the sequence, "Notes Domino 6: Managing Servers and Users," specifically zeroing in on server management.

Like all other chapters in the book, this chapter is divided into three sections. The first part lists definitions for six key terms that all administrators should know, such as transaction logging and directory deployment configurations. The second part describes 17 techniques, from automating server tasks to identifying supported protocols, which must be mastered. The final part features practice questions and Web links for additional information.
