When working on a database that inherits its design from a template, refreshing the design ties up your client. Refreshing a design four or five times can add up depending on where the database is, how big the design is, and how many templates the database inherits from.
If you have the ability to open a live console connection to the server you can us the "Load design" command, with the "-f" switch, and specify a single database. It doesn't tie up your client, and it runs more quickly since all the work takes place on the server. See example below.
load design -f myFolder\myDB.nsf
