Open a Lotus Notes database from Microsoft SharePoint 2007

When using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS 2007), you can't create a link to a Lotus Notes database that will open from the Notes client. If you try, you'll receive an error stating that the URL is invalid because the link's Web Part doesn't recognize Notes://.

Here's a workaround that uses the "Insert Hyperlink" from a rich-text editor and a few simple steps.

  • Edit a SharePoint Web Parts page.
  • Add a Content Editor Web Part to the page.
  • Edit the Content Web Part using the built-in text editor.
